On behalf of the International Institute of Information Technology (I²IT), Pune and the entire team of its Student Hostels, I welcome you to your new home away from home. This is an exciting time for you as you commence your studies, embrace a new diverse and vibrant campus community, and make life-long friends from all walks of life. I²IT provides a network of support within the residences and across the campus to ensure your wellbeing and success while living and studying at the I²IT. We encourage you to access this support by contacting the Hostel Administrator/s of the respective hostel building/s.

The Hostel handbook includes necessary information to help you live in a community of intellects and to settle into your new home. Please read the handbook carefully as it forms part of the terms and conditions of your accommodation to the Institute Hostel/s and reference to various undertakings, declarations, key policies, procedures, administration, and facilities.

Overview

It is widely understood that the educational success of a student strongly depends on the campus environment and comfortable living conditions provided to him / her. This can be possible by creating a wide range of facilities, moral and other support to the students.

Situated amongst giant IT organizations, the students at I²IT relish their little paradise on campus. I²IT instills the belief that the college campus is essentially a second home to the students. The Institute provides residential facilities offering a range of services within the institute, separately for boys and girls. All the rooms have been designed to provide adequate moving space and ample ventilation. Hostel residents are expected to observe the rules and regulations prescribed for them as well as all the requirements of corporate life and the social norms that living together demands.

to ensure that the students are able to devote adequate and quality time to their academic and research requirements;
to ensure that the students coming from various parts of the country learn to live together and strengthen their relations with mutual cooperation and goodwill; and
to develop a climate congenial for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of students

I²IT ensures the safety and security of the students residing in the hostels through a dedicated team of security officer/s and who work 24×7 on the campus.

Laundry Facility

In house laundry services are available at a nominal charges to students.

24x7 Medical Assistance

The campus has dedicated 24×7 resident medical staff / nurses who are accessible to the students and staff residing in the hostels for any medical help / emergencies.

Earn While You Learn

Become independent! Students residing in the campus can earn while studying by taking up part time internships in the labs and the in-house research center etc.

Why Choose I²IT Hostel

We have experienced in the past years that some of the parents/ students do not opt for residential facility at the time of admission and postpone this decision to look for other options. Though the University has a huge residential facility for the students, even then we have experienced the shortage of the same and when the parents/ students approach the University at the end, we are not able to accommodate them. So, in the interest of the students, it is advised that the residential facility should ideally be taken at the time of admission to avoid inconvenience at a later date. It is also experienced that generally students push their parents to allow them to stay outside the University in the privately owned rooms (PG) shared accommodation, which apart from its safety concerns are also prone to temptation of many social evils, which at their young age appears to be very attractive but create harmful effects on the students in the long term. There may be a wrong belief that PG living as compared to residential accommodation living is cheaper, but when all costs are taken into detailed consideration, then it appears that PG living in fact is more costlier and time consuming to commute up and down, below given are the points in the tabular format to support it :-

2	Safety and Security	Hostel facility at the Institute campus is much safer and secure as 24 X 7 X 365 security is available and CCTVs are installed at all prominent locations throughout the campus. Security is in the hands of experienced security staff.	Such kind of safe and secure environment is not provided in PG/ Rented accommodation.
3	Leave Record	With the help of online attendance / leave / night roll call system, the Parents may be made aware about the status/ movement of their ward/s at short notice.	Such facility is not be provided in PG/ Rented Accommodation.
4	Medical Facility	University has 30 bedded hospital within the campus and 24 hours medical and Ambulance services are available. Hospital is staffed with Resident Medical Officers, Specialists, Physician Assistants, Medical Lab. Technologists, Nurses, Dieticians, Physiotherapists and Psychologists.	Such kind of medical facility cannot be provided within PG/ Rented accommodations.
5	Library and Lab facility	Students residing in University campus can avail the Library facility till late hours, presently from 8.00 am till midnight. Labs and workshop facilities are also available till late hours for practicing.	Students residing in PG/ Rented accommodation are deprived of such facilities.
6	Group Study	Students belonging to same discipline/ programme/ department may reside in the same residential accommodation of the University, and this provides an excellent opportunity to discuss assignments and be a part of group study by exchanging ideas and notes.	In PG/ Rented accommodation there is least possibility of having large number of students from same discipline/ department/programme. So the spirit of fellow feeling and group study may not be available in PG/ Rented accommodation.
7	Power Supply	24 hours power supply through dedicated hotline and power backup is available at University campus.	In PG/ Rented Accommodation, student may face problem regarding frequent Power cuts and no proper backup for adequate power supply.
8	Internet Connectivity	Being a tech savvy University, students generally accomplish their work through internet. Internet connectivity for scheduled timings through Wi-Fi system for academic purposes is available at campus through leased line of 650 Mbps. Intranet facility is also available through which students can view the UMS, Academic records & results, Online Study material etc.	PG/ Rented accommodation may not provide such facility free of cost. Student may have to spend approximately ₹ 5000/- to ₹ 8000/- annually which is an additional monitory burden.
9	Laundry Facilities	Laundry services under hygienic conditions are available within the residential accommodations of the University at nominal charges. This facility also saves precious time of the student.	In PG/ Rented accommodation Laundry facility may not be provided at door step.
10	Transportation	No extra time and money is required for transportation as residential facility is located within the campus.	Students generally waste their time and money while commuting on daily basis from PG/ Rented accommodation to University campus and may end up spending approximately ₹ 10000 to ₹ 12000/- annually.
11	Recreational Facility	The Student Development Officer (SDO) of the Institute regularly organizes several cultural / recreational activities within the campus premises and students can participate, enjoy and learn from these activities.	PG/ Rented Accommodation don’t offer such facilities.
12	Sports & Gym Facility	At the Institute Campus, facilities for indoor and outdoor games like Table Tennis, Badminton, Football, Basket Ball, Volleyball, Cricket etc. are available. Gym facility is available along with residential facility allocation without any extra cost to the student and he / she need not leave the campus to avail such facilities.	Such facilities may not be available at PG/ Rented Accommodation

General Information

Guests/visitors are permitted to visit the hostel only on weekends and holidays between 9:00 AM to 11:45AM and 4:00PM to 6:00PM. They are not permitted to visit rooms of the students. Visitors will be entertained in the cafeteria/CCD/Plaza area. They are not permitted to stay overnight in the campus
Students will receive their guests at the warden’s office and fill in particulars of their visitors in the Hostel Visitors Register kept there. It will be the responsibility of the concerned student to receive and see off his/her Guest at the gate.
Day scholars will not be allowed entry in hostel without prior permission from the competent authorities. Defaulter day scholars as well as hostellers will each be penalized by 50% hostel fee for one month and will also be liable for disciplinary action.

Barring male members already staying in the girl’s hostel in faculty flats, with their spouses, entry of any other male member is strictly prohibited to the girl’s hostel from 7PM to 9PM.
In case of any emergent requirement, a visitor wanting to meet the inmates of hostel, he /she will obtain written permission of Dy. Director Hostels. The visitor on grant of permission will then be escorted in /out of hostel. Female escort to be detailed by the Warden/Asst. Warden.
From 9AM to 7PM the visitor will meet the security guard and enter his/her name in the visitor’s register. The guard will take the register to the Warden /Asst. Warden. The Warden / Asst. Warden will grant the necessary permission and endorse the same in front of the entries made by the visitor in the register. The visitor on grant of permission will wait for the faculty/student to come down and meet in the hostel foyer/CCD/cafeteria or plaza area.
The maintenance staff like carpenter, electrician, plumber etc. on grant of permission will be accompanied by the hostel staff to the flat/suite for repairs.
On conclusion of the visit, the visitor will make relevant entry of time out in the register. Guard will ensure that the entries are made correctly.
